Who Are We?
Communicating Thru Sign is an official 501(c)(3), tax-exempt, non-profit organization. Communicating Thru Sign was incorporated July 19, 2010. We offer quality sign language instruction for members in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana and surrounding areas. Areas of sign language instruction include fingerspelling, vocabulary, casual conversations, sign language activities, introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture.
Mission Statement
IIt is the mission of COMMUNICATING THRU SIGN to spread awareness about Deaf culture and Sign Language; and find ways to bridge the communication gap between Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people.
The philosophy of COMMUNICATING THRU SIGN is that to effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.
Goals
Communicating Thru Sign's goals are to initiate, sponsor, promote and execute programs, activities and events that will assist deaf, hard of hearing and hearing citizens to communicate with each other through using Sign Language.
